The efforts made by the Panama Canal in the implementation process of decarbonization, electric mobility and solar energy were recognized by the National Energy Secretariat (SNE).

At the “Energy Transition Awards” gala held on November 24, Jorge Rivera Staff, Secretary of Energy, presented Salvatore Bacile, Vice President of Corporate Affairs of the Canal, with an award for the organization’s work in this area.

The SNE paid tribute to personalities, public entities, companies and regional institutions, recognized in 12 categories and areas of work.

The interoceanic waterway is developing plans and programs to become carbon neutral by 2030. To achieve this goal and maximize its value as a green corridor for global shipping, the Canal expects to make significant investments and changes in its operations in the coming years.
