On March 17, Dr. Omar Jaén Suárez was awarded the Order of Vasco Núñez de Balboa. This decoration, imposed by Chancellor Erika Mouynes, is the highest honor granted by the State to Panamanians for their contributions to the culture and the development of Panamanian society.

Dr. Omar Jaén Suárez has stood out for his contributions to the social and territorial history of Panama with numerous publications, such as “La población del Istmo de Panamá” (1998), “Las negociaciones de los tratados Torrijos-Carter “(2005), and “El Canal de Panamá: El triunfo de la innovación constante” (2018), among others.

“I assure you with all humility that I will henceforth wear this insignia of the Order Vasco Núñez de Balboa with great pride and with the commitment to make myself, at every moment, fully worthy of it,” said Dr. Jaén Suárez in his acceptance speech.
