UNESCO’s Memory of the World Program (MOWLAC) recently published the book “Documentary Heritage of Latin America and the Caribbean” which includes two entries submitted by Panama. In this account is the document “Empleados de Plata: Trabajadores Antillanos en el Canal de Panamá” and the Bulletin du Canal Interoceánique de Panamá, which recounts the technical aspects of the progress of the French work.
This book compiles the characteristics of 173 archival and bibliographic collections from 33 countries validated for inclusion in the UNESCO Regional Register.
With a foreword by Adolfo Pérez Esquivel, Nobel Peace Prize winner in 1980, the book raises awareness of the importance of documentary heritage for present and future generations. “Documentary Heritage of Latin America and the Caribbean” is available on the MoWLAC website for download in PDF format.
