Why do we love Panama? During the November holidays, expressions of love and idolatry for the land of our birth overflow. We dress up to parade and show our skills in every corner of Panama. For this reason, it is propitious to take some time to think about the reason for that love.

This isthmus on which we have built a democratic nation gives us so much. It gives us an exuberant nature, source of countless resources for development. But the most notable contribution of this geography is its interoceanic canal. The geological, hydrological and, above all, human conditions allowed locks and lakes to be built here. The narrowest transit zone of the continent is a generator of science, employment and progress for the people who live here.

This is the land that holds our most precious memories. That family album where all of us who live here have vivid images of struggle, sacrifice and dreams of improvement.

Like a mother, the homeland gives us the best it has: possibility and hope.

The Panama Canal belongs to the motherland.
