Seal of Destiny

The months of September and October bring back memories of memorable days for Panama. While the generational struggle inflamed hearts for full sovereignty, the signing of the Torrijos-Carter Treaties on September 7, 1977, gave Panamanians a sense of duty. The children and youth of those days would see a country grow up with them, always with a sense of responsibility, for what would be a Canal administered by Panamanians.

Signed at the right time, the treaties marked a path towards the development we live today. A development under construction that we are leaving in the hands of a youth in whom our hopes are placed. Forty-five years of steps have passed, sometimes slow, sometimes uncertain, but always convinced that a sovereign country would be a better country.

In this edition of El Faro we celebrate this achievement, and we are proud to see young people aware of the environmental challenge we face and who are making the struggle for a better Panama their own.
